A Funeral Service was held on December 27, 2016 at Indiana Funeral Care, In the Harry W. Moore Chapel.
George Colson Jr.
Humble is the first word that comes to mind in describing George?Colson.
Devoted to his wife Dorothy (Blankenship), whom he married January 9, 1954. He embraced the Blankenship family as his own. After serving in the army in Fort Smith Arkansas, George and Dorothy made their home in Indianapolis and raised two children.
George had a deep appreciation of nature. Frequent trips were made every year to their family farm in Scottsville Kentucky. He felt at peace there. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and working around the farm. He loved all animals and gardening.
A country music fan, in his spare time he would play his guitar. He even composed a few songs of his own though he kept them to himself. There are fond memories of the musicians in the family gathering to play country music at family reunions.
George was a loyal employee of Stark &?Wetzel for many years, and retired from Marsh Supermarket.
A member of Eastside Church of Christ, he loved the Lord, volunteering wherever needed at church taking care of the grounds and building. He often offered many a serviceman from Fort Harrison a ride to church and a place at the dinner table.
George will especially be missed by his wife, children Resia Ayres (Kenneth), and Jerry Colson, grandchildren Tyler Lee Ayres, and Holly Colson Gillam (Derek) and great – grandchildren, Ethan and Alden Gillam.
